Last evening I received a call from Social Welfare saying they had a two week old baby whose mother had died and they wanted to bring her to Cradle. Today at about 12:15 the father and some relatives came with little Vanessa. After asking the father’s permission, I brought up a cot from the nursery, cute little girl clothes and will try my hand at fostering a newborn again! On Friday we had visits from two of our children who have been adopted. George came with his Tanzanian mom and day. He is just the same sober faced, chubby boy, but now he walks all over the place. Our other visitor was James Mills (aka Baraka). He is also walking all over. He kept trying to use the dog, Toby as a seat. He has a dog at home who is bigger than Toby, and allows James to sit on him! I did not get a photo of him.
Life is seldom straight forward! You set out to do something that you think is relatively simple, but you come up against twists and turns and various roadblocks! Life is learning to be resilient, adaptable, patient and many other attributes. This morning we got Wema and Abdi all ready to make the transfer from Cradle to Havilah (where 4 of our other children already live.) A few months ago I started having a 30 minute Bible program for the toddlers each Sabbath morning. The first two months was the Creation story. I managed to find some visual aids for the children, and I made rainbow sticks. The past weeks we have been doing the Noah/Flood story. Today, we did something different. I asked my husband, Max if he would play the guitar for them and we did more singing. The children don’t sing of course, but my girls do, the staff , me and we had 4 volunteers today that helped out. I am so sorry that I have not updated any news recently. Our family went to Dar for a week and had a wonderful time.However we all picked up some bug and so have spent the last 10 days trying to regain our strength.
