Last evening I received a call from Social Welfare saying they had a two week old baby whose mother had died and they wanted to bring her to Cradle.  Today at about 12:15 the father and some relatives came with little Vanessa. After asking the father’s permission, I  brought up a cot from the nursery, cute little girl clothes and  will try my hand at fostering a newborn again!  We will see how things go tonight–she may end up in the nursery with the other five tomorrow.  I  may be “over the hill” for getting up at nights. On Friday we had visits from two of our children who have been adopted.  George came with his Tanzanian mom and day. He is just the same sober faced, chubby boy, but now he walks all over the place.       Our other visitor was James Mills (aka Baraka). He is also walking all over. I managed to find some visual aids for the children, and I made rainbow sticks.  The past weeks we have been doing the Noah/Flood story.  Today, we did something different. I asked my  husband, Max if he would play the guitar for them and we did more singing. The children don’t sing of course, but my girls do, the staff , me and we had 4 volunteers today that helped out. Charles has only  [ Read More ]

I am so sorry that I have not updated any news recently. Our family went to Dar for a week and had a wonderful time. However we all picked up some bug and so have spent the last 10 days trying to regain our strength. Needless to say, I did not have the energy, nor did I want to pass on my illness, so stayed away from the babies. Here are a couple photos that my husband took of some of the “crawlers.     This morning when I got up, Max told me that the Havilah group were coming down for  [ Read More ]
